2020 Grand Reopening

October 11 will be celebration day and the opening of the newly renovated TNT Kartways track. The celebration will begin at noon and Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore will be there to cut the ribbon.

There will be no organized race but the track will be open for practice all day. Your only cost will be an insurance pass. Drinks and refreshments will be served and there will be commemorative t-shirts and caps.

We want everyone to have a fun day, relax and enjoy all the hard work that has been done. Terry Traeder will be master of ceremonies and will take the first lap around the track just like he did when TNT opened in 1961.

Located in West Quincy, Missouri, TNT Kartways is one of the most iconic circuits in US karting history, TNT Kartways opened in 1961, just after the sport was born in 1957 in California.

TNT Kartways was opened by Gus Traeder. Gus found property in West Quincy Missouri, designed the layout, had the track paved and turned the site into a mecca for go karting. A short six years later ABC Wide World of Sports televised the National Championships from TNT’s West Quincy site introducing kart racing to a national audience. The Grand Prix of Karting, which was started by Traeder as a unique activity for the Dogwood Festival, ran for 30 years. Gus put Quincy on the karting map, by creating the now famous Miller Gran Prix Karting Classic in Quincy’s South Park in the early 1970’s. Years later, Traeder took karting to the streets of Quincy’s main street area with the Uptown Karting Classic.

The track has recently gone renovations, and will host a Grand Reopening on October 11, 2020.

Terry Traeder will be master of ceremonies and will take the first lap around the track just like he did when TNT opened in 1961.
